Driving up to Maine today, the check engine light came on for the first time ever... my d1 has just about 85500 on the clock. I pulled over and checked the normal stuff, oil, coolant etc, but everything checked out and there were no mysterious sounds. So I am thinking either its scheduled to come on at some point? or is it time for new o2 sensors? any ideas for me boys and girls? TIA joshua |

Could be O2 sensors or misfire (plugs and wires). If it is driving ok you should be fine. Still have it checked just to be safe. My check engine was a misfire. I put LR fuel conditioner everything OK. I just purchased wires and plugs just because it is time 115K. Good Luck Charles |

Go to an Auto Zone. They will plug in an OBD-II and tell you exactly whats wrong. The best part, they do it for free. Good luck....Dave |

I own a 97 DISCO SE7 and at 71600 miles the check engine light came on. According to the Land Rover folks and two other mechanics, I need new exhast valves. The error message was a misfire on cylinder 3 on bank a and bank b. Apparently, the original exhaust valves are designed poorly, therefore there is tendency for carbon build up around the valve head. The replacement valve design eliminates this problem. This will cost me close to $2100 to repair. I hope it is not something else. Good Luck. |
