What is the largest off-road tires I could install on my stock Land Rover? I want to get a 2" lift but probably will not for awhile because I need new tires and want to get rock sliders so I will not have the money for a lift for awhile.

The stock tires are 235/70/16. I was looking at getting Dunlop mud tires at that size but wanted to know if it was worth it and also if I could fit bigger tires without getting a lift.

Any suggestions on tires?

235/70/16

maybe 245/70/16 but passenger side rear may rub

maybe also try 225/75 or 225/85(?)

diff in sizes is minimal - it's all about the tread....

If you get a tire that fits fine on road and there's not much room b/w the top of the tire and the bottom of the fener well while sitting level, it will definately rub badly if the vehicle needs to flex off-road. I know from experience. Save your money and get a lift + tires.

Blue,
Does anyone make a 225/85/16? It would be a cool size as it would split 215/85 and 235/85. I haven't seen any though.

not sure Niall - that's why I put a question mark there....call a tire retailer and they'll know.

I'm running Kelly trailbuster tires in 225\75 r16
no rubbing and they're "e" load rated and 50000 miles wear. I really like the tires after 7000 miles.
