I somehow cracked my right manifold - and although my wife likes the "muscle truck" sound I figure I ought to fix it.

Anyone running headers on their Disco 1? If so where did you get them? How much?

Thanks

I think that there is a company that makes headers in the UK. But the problem is that they stick out about 1/2" into the frame. So I think some people have cut and boxed there frame to make them fit. To me it seems like to much of a PITA to fool with

see: http://www.rangerovers.net/rrupgrades/rreng3.jpg

I don´t know where D.Brown sourced his headers but they fit nicely. Companies like "rimmerbros" or see even rpiv8.com sure can offer direct-fit-headers.

You will have problems to mount the catalysator on both sides. And there are many headers that look nice but do nothing for exhaust gas flow. Depends on the tube routing, diameter, ... (dont know much about that). So power improvement can be questionable (at least on some headers) and sometimes only evident at higher revs (that I never reach in my RRC). The RRC is the same engine/gearbox/chassis-wise like the Disco.

I have a set of headers from Hedman (PN 39800) payed under $100 for the set. They are for a right hand drive Range Rover. They are not installed, they look like the right side will fit but the left is going to hit the steering rod. I think your best bet is to use the late model exhaust manifolds which are tubular. RPI had a deal on them not too long ago.

Hope that helps,
neil
