I'm thinking of purchasing a 97 XD and notice some photos where it looks like winches have been installed using the stock bumper setup. Is that the case? I would rather use that than take the Terrain Master bumper off my Range Rover. Thanks, Jay |

You can get a stock LR mount to do what you are looking to do. I ran one for a few years and I actually like them. Or , yes , you can have something fabbed up to do the job.. Kyle |

I was planning to get something made since I want to keep my stock brush bar. I saw a winch mounting plate on DAP but it mounts up to the same holes that the brush bar does. |

There is a crossmember in front that looks like it could serve as a prettty good anchor. Couldn't a plate be fabbed to mount the winch there? May have to be under the plate? Gary |

Anyone have a part# or source for the winch mount/plate to use with the stock bumper setup? I found a Bearmach part BA2144, is that it? Says only can use 8,000# winch which I don't like. Jay |

Pardon my spelling, too early in the morn. But this is a good alternative to a new bumper, I dont know about 8000 only, I've pulled myself out at a 80% angle up a 3 ft mud wall, all that side load had no effect on the set up. I've got pics if interested E Mail me. I would like 250.00 for it. |

Kyle, The shop that has worked on my RR is selling this XD I'm testing out and they have a pretty good fabrication guy so I'm confident he can make it all work out, just glad to hear it can be done, I like the stock setup although it probably isn't as tough as ARB or SG. Thanks, Jay |

It's very tough. I've been runing the winch cradle for 3 years and that sucker is as tough as they come. I've used it to slide up rocks, tug backwards and forwards in some deep heavy shit, and of course winch often. What I like the most is the easy access to the winch, best working setup, leagues about the ARB. Michel |

Michel, Have you got a shop fabbed winch cradle mount or something specifically made for the D1? I'm new to Discos, is this stock bumper on the XD the same as on other Discos? I know the stock RR bumper is crap and just last weekend replaced mine with a Terrain Master one, what timing! Glad to know the stock bumper is tougher on the Discos, I've yanked on it and it seems stout but wasn't sure. I know ARB is tough but they are too bulky for my tastes. Jay |

What does the winch setup look like? Does anyone have any pics? Where can the bumper mount be purchased? Charles |

Jay, the part that holds the winch is called a winch tray. It's an add-on that allows you to install a winch without replacing the stock bumper. You can get it from land rover for a ton of money as a vehicle kit, or in my case I got it from Ramsey for about $350 I think. You can see pics here: http://www.discoweb.org/mike/TypicalTrail.jpg Michel |

If someone is looking for a winch mount for a stock bumper on a Disco I, I have one for sale. It came with my 97 Disco and I have since upgraded to an ARB Bumber. You can see pics here: http://junkmail4371.home.attbi.com/ Joshua |

Joshua, Since I can get one at Ramsey for around $350, are you willing to re-adjust your asking price? Please email me. |

Does ramsey still make the mount in question? Last I heard, it was gone. Also, the ramsey is a bit less expensive than the genuine article. Michel |
