I recently changed out my rear shocks to Bilsteins after finding the OME N76s too soft--I could not put up with the poor ride any longer. The ones I have are for the front of the G-wagon. They are pretty firm and now the disco handles far better all round. I've only taken them off road once so will need some time to see how they handle in the long term. The length seems about right. I will have to dig up the specs, but I think they are close to 10" in travel.

Woodhead, Bilstein, OME N76

Dee, I don't think they are the new 5100 series but I really don't know. Some wanker forwarded a link to me where some Germans had been trying out that Bilstein on their Defender

The complete part number is F4-B46-0504-H0. The sleeves on the top bushings (5/8") are too small for the Disco upper mounts (3/4") and the bushing has to be removed and replaced. Similarly the beefy lower bushings are too big for the Disco cups and stock bushings or something similar need to be used.

I run the Bilstein 7100 series shocks. The stiffest valving they sell over the counter is 360/80. I ran this for a while and still had swaying problems. I finally went to a custom valving and now the truck handles like a dream on and off-road. Drop me a line if you need more info.
