Hello All,

Does anyone happen to know if a 235/85/16 size tire will fit on a stock rim from a 2001 DII?

Also does anyone have any good pictures they could post of the 235/85/16 on a DII rim?

Don't do it. If you have a NAS D2 the rim is 8" wide. The 235/85 will need a 7" or 7.5" wide rim at most. You can do a 245/75 and while that needs a rim less than 7.5" too it has been done and was even used by the Trek Discos. If you want the same height as the 235/85 go with the 265/75's.

Email Greg Parrish at [email protected]. He has that size of tires and they work fine.

He runs the 235/85 which = 31.9

I run the 265/75 which = 31.8

Paul,

Dave and I were already talking. I'm going to shoot some digital pics for him tonight.

I agree the tires work, but I wouldn't buy them again. The height is perfect, they don't rub, and they probably stuff better than the 265's, but they also don't provide hardly any rim protection. They are flush with the rims at 9.5" wide tires on a 8" rim. They would be ideal on a 7" rim. I think Garrett is running 7" wide rims on his D1 and his 235-85's look completely different than mine. They fit the rim.

Dave,

I posted pics on my website. It is harder to tell on small web quality pics, but the difference in person is overwhelming. I did my best to capture some pics that display the tire differences.

go to 235vs265 folder. Of course on the 3" RTE lift you could actually go bigger if you wanted like 285/75 or 305/70.

Greg

Thanks for the pics, I can see the diffrence in the pictures.

"Of course on the 3" RTE lift you could actually go bigger if you wanted like 285/75 or 305/70."

Great, more choices : ) and I only have about 10 days to decide what to go with.

Personally, I'd stick with the 265's.

The 265 goodyears are 31.8" tall, if you go up to the others you are looking at 33" tall. Big difference. Plus the width will increase significantly. That adds a lot more weight and stress on your stock drivetrain system.

Again though, just my opinion.

Dave,
Buy the 235/85's... Buy the 235/85's...

If I have to I'll use Jedi Mind tricks. Don't make me do it!

255/85's because after you get the 235/85's or 265/75's, you'll want to go bigger.

Danno's right. I've gone from 245/75 to 265/75 and this spring I'm moving to 255/85. When will it all stop? :)

37s. damn that is big. you'd have to crawl up the tire while the truck is in drive going 5 mph just like the dudes driving Bigfoot and Gravedigger do!!! that's just classy.

yes indeed......."go big or go Ho!"
