I need to replace my wipers. I have a discoII 02 and I cannot seem to find replacements. Has anyone replaced there's without going to the dealer? If so what did you use? Thanks |

Measure the old ones and you should be able to get refills or replacements. |

I had the same issue at the kragen/pep kids stores. But a good autoparts store will have replacement blades. I think I paid around $12 for a set of rubbers... Carl |

You should be able to go down to your local Pep Boys and pickup Bosch replacement blades. They're pretty much universal and an easy DIY replacement. A set of front blades should be under $30. |

I picked up some Bosch wipers for my Defender and they didn't perform very well from the beginning. But, then again the windshield wipers on a Defender aren't anything to write home about. Nonetheless, I purchased the SilBlades from the EE and I automatically noticed a monumental improvement over the Bosch wipers. They moved copious amounts of water instantaneously! I personally recommend giving the SilBlades a try! DJ |

PaddyG, The DiscoII has "unique" wiper arms. A gift from the design folks at Landrover. There aren't many solutions that fit on the arms except the dealer's. You can get replacement inserts but some don't fit very well. As far as I know, the Silblades and most normal replacement blades won't work unless you replace the wiper arm with something more universal. I've heard that you can buy the genuine LR winter wiper blades and they come with two new arms that are more universal but the set is about $50 I think. This leaves you with: Buy blades from the dealership. Replace the arms with DI arms and buy what you wan't. Replace the arms with winter wiper blade arms. Measure the blades and buy inserts. Others more knowledgeable may pipe in but this is what I've figured out so far. Rick |

Rick, I wish I had read your message sooner because it would have saved me a trip to the store. You cannot buy replacements at the local auto store. The blade is 20.5" and replacements do not come in 1/2s.If some one has actually found a replacement that works please let me know.If not I guess I will go to the dealer tomorrow for a quick fix and replace the arms in the future. If some one has actually found a replacement that works please let me know. Thanks for all the replies. PaddyG |
