I get in my 98 disco today to go to school. It cranks up and i start going and i haven't any powersteering, the battery dash light is lit up, and my rpm gauge won't move off 0 even when i rev my engine. I then pulled it back into a parking place and it didn't die. when i cut it off i let it sit for a second and it cranked back up but it took it a second. what is wrong with my Rover its a never ending saga for off road excellence |

it's either you alt. or your serp. belt that runs the alt. check to make sure it is snug and in good shape. if that is OK, then take the truck to a station and make sure your alt. is working good. if it is the alt. don't get a new one from LR. get a rebuilt one from a local shop with a lifetime warranty. save yourself some big $$. |

If it had been the alt. I found a special of the day at www.britishpacific.com for a D1 alt. Don't know if it's the best price or not, but their pricing seems to be good on other things. |

do a search for "belt routing". i have posted a pic of the routing for the belt numerous times. at work right now and don't have the pic on this PC. i am pretty sure that belt can be cross ref. with a Dodge belt. i don't remember for sure though. takes all of 5 min. to replace. loosen the tensioner and follow the diagram and then re-tighten. no need to ever pay over $250 for a good alt. i have a rebuilt Bosch on mine now and paid about that. others have paid less. if you need to get a belt off the net contact nathan at [email protected] or go to his site www.discountrovers.com but you should be able to get one locally. napa, etc. |
