I've got a 96 disco w/ the ABS warning light on. Took it in and they told me the front wheel speed sensor was not reading properly, needed to be replaced. Anyone have advise on this, can I do it myself? What does the part cost? thanks for your help....I'd rather do it myself if possible! |

My left wheel speed sensor was pushed up out of place just about 1/4". If you feel each sensor (D/S and P/S), you'll know which one is pushed up. Mechanic said it was probably caused by bearings or cv joint wearing out. I gave it a few light/medium taps downward on each side of the wire with the flat side of a chisel and hammer. It pushed it in just enough to fix it...ABS light went out, and it has worked fine ever since. |

yea, its very doable. Take off the tire, use a flat head screwdriver to pry out the old sensor, disconnect the wiring and take it out. The new sensor should have plastic grommet/fasteners already connected on the wiring to mate with the truck. Bend the copper bushing (found inside the newly opened hole) to create some tension against the new sensor, slide the new sensor in, tap it good with a rubber mallet and then wire it back up like the last one was. It should take between 30-40 minutes. by the way, what was their estimate for the whole job? |

The place I go to wanted $500 for the job. Not sure how much the sensor costs? |
