I found out that BFG has the all terrain in 255-70R16. I want the all terrain for my D2 but they don't have them in 255-65R16. So this tire will be slightly taller than stock but it fits does it?

It fits better than the stock, and the speedo will be more accurate. The fit on the spare carrier is perfect as well. If/When you get a lift, they won't look too small either.

Pete, I don't know if you have looked into price yet, but that size will be more expensive that other common sizes. I don't know what the fix is exept to get a lift. Try pricing 245/75. I don't know if they are odd size.

Pete,

I have the BFG 255-70R16 All Terrains on my '01 D2. They fit just fine stock, gives you maybe 1/2 inch more of lift (at best). The spare is a little tight of a fit, but it works just fine. (as stated above)

I have added a *very mild* lift (getting milder as my MD springs are sagging a bit, lol). The tires look okay right now - I really don't think I have much more than 1 inch of extra lift suspension wise.

I will say this: When the time comes that I have the resources to put on a new HD bumper, along with HD springs and shocks (meaning a little more lift than what I currently have), I think I would want to get a bit larger tires at that time.

FWIW, hope this helps. Best wishes,

Kim

I put the 255-70R16 BFG T/As on my '00 a few months ago and they have been excellent. I have the stock suspension and it is a perfect fit. The tires performed much better for me on loose dirt and small mud pits (haven't tried anything real deep yet) than the stock tires. In addition to being a functional improvement, I think they look great on the truck.

Pete, the Scorpion A/T in 255/70-16 is on special at the Tire Rack for only $66 a piece. It's a bit less aggressive than the BFG A/T off-road, but gives much better handling and ride comfort on-road...
