I live in Fairbanks, AK and need to winterize my disco II. Should I go with the block heater or a circulating heater? Does the block heater bolt on or do I have to work real hard at it? Does anybody know who sells these heaters? Should I get a battery blanket or just get a gel battery? What else should I do to get it ready for -70 temps? Is the safety device expedition rack better or should I go with the highlander rack?

Land Rover sells a factory block heater - that is what I am using in Manitoba. Seems to do the trick. Pretty straight forward, remove a frost plug off the block and insert the block heater. We don't get to -70 but it sure feels like it some days! I have always had good luck with battery blankets as well ...

I would go with a gel batt in any temp zone
