I want to know where the stepper is ,how to clean it and what do i use to clean with. I have another problem when i apply the bbrake sometime the car shut down with a short circiut pop i hear in the radio. It pops then shuts down in low rpms while driving on the high way shuts down then car turn on again but not at low rpms i have to turn it on any ideas? |

I was wondering where it was too. Neither photo in that FAQ looks like my motor. I have a 95 Disco w/ 3.9 V8. The photo for the 95 model looks like the distributor/plug wires are at the rear of the engine, they are not there on mine. The photo of the 96-99 does not match mine either. Are there any photos of the actual part when out of the vehicle? Shane |

For the 95 3.9 V8 the stepper motor mounts sideways on the rear of the plenum chamber(passenger side). Its the only thing back there and looks like a large spark plug with the top cut off and replaced with a fitting to hook it up to the electrics of the truck. I used carburator cleaner (aerosol can with a small diameter straw attached) to flush out the internals while avoiding the electrical fitting. kln |

Geez, if it was a snake it would have bit me! I get it, the photo of where it is on the 95 doesn't actually show it, just where it is located. I thought it was wierd that there wasn't anything in the circle. I was able to remove mine by hand without a wrench, is it supposed to be wrench tightned or torqued to any spec? Thanks. Shane |

Gotta love that! I don't have my manual with me and don't remember if there was any torque specification. Nice snug fit without overtightening. Use loc-tite or equivalent (non-permanent). kln |
