Hello, yesterday there was a small puddle of radiator fluid on the garage floor. Looked at the bottom of the engine and there was a drop on the bottom of the block, drivers side, front left corner of the engine. Looked from the top and there was a little dribble on the front of the block, kinda in the area where the head meets the block. Looked at the thermostat housing and there was nothing around it. It was a little wetish in the area between the heads but it looked more like oil. There was also oil on the front of the block. I cleaned the whole area off. There was no oil in the radiator fluid resevoir and no water in the oil. Any ideas on where the rad fluid is coming from?? Thanks for your help! Derek Aber |

Check the under the intake plenum at the top of the engine. I had a leak there and have seen it on several Discos. |

Hey Have simlar problem but not as bad. The valley gasket is leaking. Does not look like to be a difficult repair. Work shop manual shows you how. I am just waiting until it gets worse. Good Luck Brad 96 disco 60,000miles |

Derek, Just had the same problem with the intake/valley gasket on my 95 111K. Not the best with a wrench so I took it to the dealer ($525 was the quote), it's still there with another problem so I'm sure it's going to be much higher. |

Had a bad hose - I'm working from memory here- There is a 3" +/- long black rubber hose with a 3/8" +/- id on one end and a 5/8" +/- id on the other atop the Intake manifold. Mine (97 Disco) was cracked and leaked a little, pooling on top of the block/waterpump interface and dribbling down --easy fix Zadzik |

check the hose mentioned above. also, there are two very small hoses that run to the underside of the intake (where the butterfly is). These might be leaking. Lastly, before taking to the dealer. try tightening the intake to head bolts. The last two on each head (four per head, two on the front of the intake manifold, and two on the back side near the firewall). thease are the areas where water is circulated between the heads & intake. tightening might fix the leak. Lastly, dealer would be correct, remove intake, replace gasket. |
