i was down at the beach this past weekend and i noticed my check engine light had illuminated. the only thing i can think of that might have cause anything to happen wouldve been driving through some standing water (on the road not salt water). but i figure that wouldnt do much. i still have a dealership warranty on it but i want to know if i can save myself the trip. |

You would first need to get the OBD code to find out what the problem is. Many auto parts stores will read the code for you or you can pickup a code reader from someone like http://www.obd-2.com/ |

My light is on as well, but it is due to a defective oxygen sensor. I go fishing routinely up at around 4,500 - 5,000 feet, and the sensor doesn't recover from that elevation back at sea level. Mine is being replaced tomorrow. Unless your disco is running poorly, it is probably a defective sensor. |
