I have heard that the BFG AT 255-70 R16 is a nice good fit for the D2 seeing that its only a little bigger than 255-65-R16 POS goodyears. So went to town fair tire, first they told me about 800 bucks, please clear this up, are they really 800. Also when I told them what truck I had and the old tire size they said that it would not fit. "It will brush up inside the wheelwell." Can you please help me by telling me if they indeed fit or not and if any D2 owner can send me a pic or something of a D2 with these tires. Thanks for the help!!! |

Some places only want to put the correct size for insurance reasons or something. They don't want the numbers to change, (tire size numbers that is) But 255-70 is a good fit. Nice looking tire too. |

David: First off, BFG has set prices, not the tire shops, ask them for the "if we sell any lower, we'll lose our BFG franchise" price. If they don't come down at that point, run away. I would be very surprised if their first price was their lowest. As for getting other than stock tires mounted, I have also run into this with some shops (namely Sears) refusing to mount anything other than what their book says fits. You may have to find another tire shop that is more enlightened. Been there, done it. Paul |

David, I was looking for a pic I could compress to post here, but you can see more pics at once if you go to the photogallery on this site, (currently, I'm the only Kim on there) and look at some of the pics of my D2. I have BFG AT KO's 255/70/R16. The earliest pics (closest to bottom of the page) are with them when it was almost completely stock ... It still is pretty much stock in terms of suspension. I have a very mild lift, but I also have sliders, brushbar, diff guards, etc. that take it down a bit (plus I always overpack, LOL). They're good tires. Great sidewall protection. The Goodyears - LOL, we ripped and destroyed 2 of them in one clean swipe at only 500 miles on the odometer. Shop around, you'll find a good price. If your Goodyears are still fairly new, (well remember, ours only had 500 miles on them, LOL) see if you can get a trade in type of discount. Good luck, Kim |
