How is it set up?

What lines run to it? Does it run off the main compressor and condensor?

Thanks

Ron

Phillip, that does not give me something to build.

I'm curious as well. If you engage the rear air-conditioning, is it just that - cold air A/C only or will it take a cue from the heat / A/C master control at the dash? Often times, I'm just trying to heat the whole car and don't want the rear to blow cold (although heat in front and A/C in the back seems to really help in defrost situations!).

Fine,

I guess I will figure it out on Mon. and answer my own question.

Cold only. It would need a water source for hot air.

Ron - you're wacked! Don't you have enough problems with poor old Lucas?! :)

I think there is an extra set of freon lines that run to the back and then down the bumped out rear pillar trim panel (BTW - you need that and new rear glass also)

This is only what I saw - I wheeled with a guy this weekend who had an SE7, but didn't look to closely ( was too busy helping fix another guys j**p :) )

Bill,

But Ron's not putting it in the Disco, he's gonna put it in the 110....

heh heh.... I like the thought....

:)

Ron,
Never messed w/ rear A/C, can't tell ya anything. I'll look in my shop manual for ya, but I'd guess that you have one already.... :)

Yeah - but he's still wacked!

The 110 is becoming the millennium project (ie: next millennium)

LOL :)

It runs off the main system. The HP side of the freon line tee's right at the fill connector and runs back along the driver side (NA) sill to the rear. The return line comes back the same way.

It should be easy to install in a 110 since the whole friggin thing starts with a button push on the dash. It won't work without the main AC enabled and won't enable the system on it's own.

The heat exchanger simply sucks and blows (hehehe) through misc ductwork fitted inside the trim.

BTW, the lines corrode and pinhole right by the rear wheel arch. Ask me how I know ;)

Wanna buy mine ? Come to IL and take it off !

"Yeah - but he's still wacked!"

Well duh! No sane person would subject themself to the abuse I go through.

The 110 now has a tranny and a T-case

Grand total cost will be under $300 (how is that for cheap bastard :)) and the R380 is basically new and the LT230 will have new output bearings and a new diff.

Ron

PS Of the choice of 3 (good cheap quick) I am opting for cheap and good.

So there is no way to install the system on something that does not have AC yet?

My thought was that I could get a small AC system out of it for the 110 (which will have no AC) which I could then cleverly plump into the front heater ducts so I could keep the look of the series heated (whacked for sure!)

What else would I need? A compressor, a condensor? I know nothing about AC.

I mean how can I go wrong it is 1% of dealer price (not kidding it is $1500)

Ron - email me off list - I know who has a complete NAS 110 AC system just sitting around collecting dust.

Not sure if it would fit in with the CB way of life though? :)

...that is a correct assumption, Sir

The rear unit is nothing more then a heat exchanger and a blower motor
