OK. I did a search on DSII & backspacing, but all of the backspacing numbers were for a DI.

What is the backspacing on a NAS DSII alloy wheel? From what I gathered, the DI's have 5.375" backspacing, but I need to confirm what it is for the DSII.

I'm at work right now but when I get home later I'll measure it, unless someone else has it.

I just checked my 18" proline wheels in my basement and looks like 7" if I measured it correctly. The 16x8 steel wheels (AR?) that I picked up from charles a couple of years ago measure 5.5".

Thanks Al. For some reason that seems a little too much (7"). I'll take my spare off this evening if time permits. Thanks again.

Just measured it again and for a second time and get 6.75.

Let me know what you come up with.

Al, were you measuring from the flat mounting face to the lip of the wheel, or to the sidewall of the tire?

flat mounting face to the outside lip (actually inside of wheel if it was mounted - axle hub side) of the rim itself.

Greg, Did you get to measure your spare?

Al, I measured it last night. I came up with 6.5". Sorry to question your measuring, but I had NO idea that they were offset that much. That presents a new problem for me as I need a set of 16x6.5" steelies and need to decide what backspacing to look for. I'm thinking of 4.5". Here's my reasoning;

Factory wheel is 8" wide, leaving 1.5" spacing up front. I want a skinny wheel because of the tires I will be using. I want 6.5" wide, but may have to settle for 7". That right there means that I could go with 5"-5.5" backspacing, but because I'm going with skinny tires, I have enough room to push the wheels out at least an inch, so I come up with acceptable backspacing of 4.5".

Anyone have any opinions or experiences they'd like to share with me before I screw up and order wheels that won't fit? Honestly, I want some second opinions on this.

Well... that sounds good. I can say that the AR wheels I have with the 5.5" back spacing aren't good for more than 245/75. The 265/75's rub too much but I have seen one other person use them with little rubbing. At the time I picked up the AR wheels I was looking for 16x7 but had to settle on 16x8. I think the 16x7 would have done well for me. I plan on moving to 255/85's this spring so I'll be looking for new wheels again. Let us know what you come up with.

I'll be sure to post what I decide on. Still early yet as my tires won't be in for about a month.

Couldn't you just fabricate some spacers in the bumper shop?

lol... I want pictures! :)

You have the 3" lift. Are you doing anything else to get ready for those?

Greg D, I was just thinking, aren't the 9.00r16's about 10" wide? You would be okay with 7"-8" rims then. No? With that size tire I would think you would be best off with the stock offset.

Well, the recommended wheel width is 6.5", and the width of the tire is listed as approx. 9", so I want to go as skinny as possible to prevent any loss of beads on the trail.

Greg, I could get some spacers made, but the problem right now is getting a wheel norrow enough that doesn't stick out too far (too little backspacing), so the spacers are the opposite of what I need at this point. Still looking, but if all else fails I can have some wheels made by Stockton Wheel. Of course, if I have to go that route it will delay the install 'cause I'll have to save my allowances! .

Al, I'm trying to get ready, but I won't lift anymore if at all possible. I'm already at 4.5". I have a second set of DII flares and I plan on extending my wheel wells fore and aft to help accommodate the extra height. There's alot to be done, so they won't be mounted for quite some time. Hell, after everything is done they still may not fit so they may never get fitted. I'm gonna give it a try, though.
