I just got my second set of rims LR steel wheel.
Can anybody suggest which black color is appropriate. Glossy finish or Flat. I plan to spray paint for now instead of powder coating which is later.(no Money) Any suggestions of a good brand of spray paint? Will Rustoleum work? Thanks!!!!

glossy seems like it would be easier to clean. i used the Ultra-Flat black Spray on my hood and it seemed to stain with mud. i the rolled on the flat black and haven't had a problem.

Sticker? You mean like the ones on the CT rigs to cut the glare?

Nice.

Got any pics?

I have seen a couple of glossy black wheels and I'll tell you what, they look Ghetto. I would say flat or satin.

I just redid my hood blackout. I ended up using Rustolium flat black oil based. Covered wonderfully. Have been through some rains already and no water marks. Definatly use a large fine roller and do a few coats and take your time. You dont want any low rent looking roller trails left behind.

and make sure the roller is lint free, or you'll get pubic hairs in the paint...

Ron, how many cans of Krylon Epoxy paint do I need for the 5 rims. How many coatings should I spray. Would the outside just be okey or both inside and outside of the rims be sprayed. Again thanks

3-4 cans of the paint and you will want to clean (very well use castrol super clean make sure no grease which ruins paint) and lightly scuff them with sand paper depending on what they are. Now I personally would primer them with Krylon epoxy primer first (2 cans). Two quick coats of primer followed by 2-4 thin coats of the black. The high gloss will dull slightly to a nice semi gloss in about a year with UV exposure. Flat is terrible with mud as the mud sticks and stains and with epoxy it is either flat or gloss. I would do both sides but just the outside will be enough if the existing paint is ok. If you do this you can half the amount of paint.

I have painted so many things black and the only ones that are still perfect are the ones with krylon epoxy on in.
