I just installed my OME shocks and springs over the weekend and noticed a goopy substance on my inside brake pad on my rear drivers side. I thought it might be oil leaking from the axle seal or something. What might this be and should I be worried? I have a '00 DII with 37K. |

Eric, If your talking about the back side of the pad its most likely brake pad grease to calm the squeal. If its slung all over the inner wheel and dust guard you have a failed seal Dee |

I did not see it was all over but it was on the inside pad only. And there was a slight film on the rotor. |

Did you get your pads replaced? The OE pads and the Ferodo (sp?) OEM pads don't come with the anti-squeal grease. |

Eric, When I do brake pad change I smear a small amount of rake grease on the back of the pads and in the grove where they slide. I have not done a brake job on a DII yet but I know the same grease is used on hem also. If too much grease was applied it could make its way to the rotor. Pull the tire and get a clean rag spray some brake cleaner on the rag and wipe clean the rotor and any excess grease. |

I replaced my pads last summer and did not put any grease on it and I doubt the dealer would have done this as they have never really seen my brakes. |
