I bought 8 Bosch platinum 4+ plugs, any pointers or tips on the install? How do I gap these buggers? Do I even need to gap them?

Josh,
I just installed them in my DII recently. The platinum 4's should be factory gapped, aren't adjustable, and shouldn't require any modification on your part. Just remove the old ones and put the new ones in. The only thing special I did was to use anti-seize compound on the plug threads and di-electric grease on the plug wires because I installed new wires too.

Josh, make sure you have a cold engine before removing the old plugs. The threads can be easily damaged if removed when hot. Use anti-seize on the new ones.

What brand of wires are you all using?

Danno, 75k miles? Are you talking about the same set of plugs? Thats pretty good. Notice any side effects from using them? I currently use the single electrode bosch plat but am thinking of going with the +4 except that I've heard they run too hot.

oh and that's 75k miles indicated. odo has been off between 7% - 12% depending on the tires. 245/75's at ~40k, 235/85's at ~75K and 255/85's at 104k. now at 113k and i know that i put the plugs in before my 245's

I'm using the 8mm Magnecor plug wires as well. Got the same deal that Danno mentioned.

The Bosch Platinum +4 for the DII had a part number of 4418 or 4478. Both are listed on the Bosch site as acceptable. I can't remember which one I actually got though. Packaging and receipts are at home.

Are the Original Equipment Plugs that are available at the dealership pre-gapped?

Bill K,

i haven't changed plugs since 55kmi (now 118kmi) - they are whatever the Disco came with, don't even know the brand.

OTOH, my next set of plugs will be Champion Truck plugs.
