my DII with ACE tires wears unevenly, choppy. These are the 255-55-18's. When asked the LR service guy, he told it's the tires, and not the suspension or anything.. suggested me to purchase the Michellins.

I dont know if hes telling the truth or just trying to avoid warranty service. Whats the big deal here?

You have BFG's as stock tires? I thought the ACE vehicles generally came with Goodyears or at least mine did. How many miles are on your tires?

My ACE was Goodyear as well.

I would recommend Pirelli's in the same size..

Are they the HP's? If they are the he is right, they are crap, pieces of shyt, junk, worthless... the HP's cup badly, make lot's of road noise, but mine have worn evenly bad across the tread. I have 40,000 on them, and there is tread left, but it is all cupped and crappy. Oh, did I say they suck?

I pulled mine off before they hit 20k but from what I've seen 30k is about right. Give or take. If you want to keep the stock size go with some Pirellis' as Dave said.

BTW LR will tell you that you can only put HPs on an ACE disco, or any Disco II for that matter (whoever told you to put scorpions on is not familiar with LR policy or is ignoring it).

Synchrones would be my choice I guess.

Just like they tell you that you can only use 18" wheels on the ACE vehicles even though they sell D2's with ACE and 16" wheels every where other than the US.

gregg, ACE stands for Active Cornering Enhancement.

It's the shame that LR chosed HPs. It's already damaged ACE's reputation.. I wonder if they still carry them on the new DII with ACEs..They should make these tires mandatory recalls, cause mine's crappy with all the noise.

Al, do you have them 16s on yours?? if you do, is there any big difference in terms of ACE performance? From reading this board, I heard its better to go with the 16" on offroading. I mostly use mine on the freeway, and take it offroad once in 2 months.. no rough terrains though.. so cant tell much..

For off road use the 16s are a must. As for on road going from the 18" to 16" didn't make much, if any, difference. I really don't think 18" wheels belong on the Disco.
