While my transfer case is out of the truck, what are some simple ways to detect if anything is going to happen. (I can rotate the front and rear output shafts indepently from one another) |

Play in the bearings? Crap on the drain plug? Leaks? Replace the input seal no matter what. Ron |

In addition. Nothing wrong with rotating the flanges like you can do. Put your finger into the hole in the front (where the gearbox´s mainshaft goes in) - if you´re not in Neutral and that gear does not turn only then sth is faulty. Move the little diff-lock lever on the right/front output housing (above the front flange) to the left to lock the diff and try again. The t-box is pretty strong and reliable. Problems are worn input gear/mainshaft splines. And the center diffs internals (cross shaft, shims). To answer your question: disassemle and check. Or trust it (dependant on milage and the clonks that were present in usage, some are from the t-case). |
