Hey Folks, I just completed the install of that changer I bought from Tom in Virginia. The install was very smooth thanks to Mike Holmes and his wonderful directions at http://www.expeditionexchange.com/cdchangerinstall/ The job took 2.7 hours and total cost was $211. The $11 was for a couple of kick ass cheesburgers. Hopefully before my beers start kicking in, I can share a bit of info for you....... |

Okay, The CD Changer is an Alpine CHM-S620. The Part Number for the BlitzSafe interface is LROVALPDMXV1 which is for Alpine changer models 601,611, and 620. Hopefully, I can get some pics up.

Nice job Paul, I did the same thing (only my adaptor was sourced from Circuit City after looking everywhere in the world)last January. I was wondering were you able to purchase the "special tool" for sliding the head unit out? When I did mine only the LR Dealer had the little goodies. If there out there I'd like to pick them up for future abuse. Also, re: slider install tomorrow...I am at 90 % go. Only hitch at this point is the Mushroom festival nee micro brew festival tomorrow in Kennett...decisions |

Hey Todd, The "special" tool can be found at any store that sells office supplies. Tom was nice enough to include one in with the shipping. I think you know where you appointed place of duty is tomorrow. Paul out.......... |

The "special" tool can be found at staples. It is called a clip strip for binders. In the photo above, you can see I cut one in half with a pair of dikes. (That's diagonal cutters for you touchy feely types) The link is: http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Browse/sku.asp?PageType=1&Sku=lll20530&bcFlag=True&bcSCatId=1&bcSCatName=Office+Supplies&bcCatId=2&bcCatName=Binders+%26+Binder+Accessories&bcClassId=20006&bcClassName=Binder+Accessories |

Hey Paul, How do you like that Cobra handheld CB? Is it worth the higher price to avoid fitting a head unit in overhead? |

Paul, I must be losin' it, because I thought you had an SE? And why don't you have a photo gallery of that nice truck of yours here so I don't have to admit my failing grey matter in public? Karen |

Hey Rans and KJ, Wow, what a day. Greg and I just got back from Zaks where we installed a new set of Rovertym sliders on his D1. Rans, the Cobra 75WXT handheld kicks ass. The benefit is not having to mount a head unit in the cockpit. My power source is under the driver seat and the hand unit can be disconnected via a threaded connector. Karen, I'll send Ho some pics after my Spring '03 Smokey National Forest trip. Paul out..... |

hey paul, glad the directions helped you out. obvious questions i should know, but i don't. 1. does the data cable just attach to the end of the blitz adapter and then run on to the changer? 2. does it use the same style cable as the OEM pioneer changer? thanks, mike holmes |

Hi Mike, 1. Yes, the data cable plugs into the Blitz Box. From there I ran it down behind the glove box and through the center console. The other end plugs into a harness which is directly attached to the changer. 2. I have no idea. Sorry. I am off to Maryland for a few days for airplane stuff. I'll be looking for Disco's. |
