So, my truck now resides with my mother (along with her grocery getting habits), and to add insult to injury... She calls tonight and mentions that the key no longer locks the doors, still starts the ignition, but won't lock the doors. (I assume it won't unlock them either.) Help. I'm vercrumped. JR |

Do all the doors lock when lock is from pushed from inside the driver's side door? Or is she talking about the key fob (remote)? Could be a fuse or faulty remote/battery. Need more info. -Mark |

JR: What year? Does it lock with the remote and not the key? The linkages inside the door become corroded, requiring much higher torque/effort to actuate the door lock. Over time, the corrosion gets so bad that when you turn the key, the little plastic bits inside the door handle break. The Rover uses a unique combination of mechanical and electrical devices to lock the doors and arm the alarm. If the little plastic bits break just right, you can find yourself with a vehicle that arms the alarm, yet won't let you open the door. Let us know just how the door won't lock. With luck, it is not the door handle bits. The good news is that if this is the problem, once you get the new bits, lubricating the linkages seems to work to keep it from recurring. Paul |
