Hi,

I just bought my first Disco and WOW! Huge difference from my previous 4Runner! I looked in the archives and could only find the procedure to rpogram the alarm remote for the older alarms. Can anybody tell me the procedure for programming the extra remote to my '97 SE?

Thanks in advance...

Jeremy

Just leave the battery out of the remote for at least 2 minutes before replacing it.

Jeremy,

AFAIK, the dealer has to reprogram the 2-button remotes....

:(

Nope, I've got a 2 button for my '98.

I put in a new battery, and it ceased to work, I went to the dealership (it's almost 1000 feet from my house in Charlotte) and they told me $59.00.

After this price quote I decided to read the owners manual one more time, and saw the note about leaving the battery out for 2 minutes.

I took the battery back out, and several minutes later replaced it. A couple of button presses later I was back in my truck!

Scott,

But that was for your remote that was already programmed to your truck.

If you get a different remote, you need the Testbook program to change it.

So, it depends on if this remote is original to this vehicle of Jeremy's, or if it is a new remote that he got to go with it.....

Yep, I read it as re-program.

If it hasn't been programmed for your disco originally, I hope you get a better price than the $59 LR Charlotte wanted :)

It is a different remote that was not originally for my Disco. I appreciate all of the input. Does anybody know the programming procedure?

Thanks again,

Jeremy

See Leslie's post - if it is a 2 button, then you need a dealer testbook or equivalent (Autologic, etc) to program.....period.
