OK, call me a wimp but I get a bit twitchy when I bang about off-road with those things in front of me: I know they're not SUPPOSED to go off unwanted but then this truck was made by Brits who I reckon installed the electrical system on my 98 D1 on a Friday afternoon after a long lunch in the pub to judge by previous gremlins. Now the thing's out of warranty I feel inclined to tinker. Needless to say I know anything I do is my own responsibility entirely - all I want to do is install a switch somewhere.

Thanks Jess - for some reason I thought they went around the fuses. I'll find it and pull it.

If you do pull the fuse, does the SRS light on the dash come on or stay off?

Dash light comes on when the fuse is pulled. Goes back out when fuse inserted again.

so is this a wise thing to do...or should we stay away from it...?
i don't want to re-insert it and have the airbags go off...

Not sure how tough it would be to do but a switch like for the childs side disable might be a beter option than a perment disable. that steering wheel and windscreen is pretty tough in a head on

So which fuse is it on a DII?

A switch would be nice. Could be installed into one of the binnacle dummies perhaps?

I'd use a keyed switch or some kind of fail safe switch that wasn't easy flip. Like the passenger side airbag disable switches in some new vehicles, you have to use the key to shut it off.
