OK, this is a real rookie question -- so much so I'm embarassed to be asking: What is the PTO and how is it used? From what little I know, it stands for "Power Take Off" and comes out of the transfer box to run a winch or something (I think). Anyway, how would you utilize this on a Disco I and is it worth the effort compared to an electric winch? |

PTOs were common on older Series Land Rovers and old Jeeps. They could be either a direct-drive setup, ie., the PTO has a driveshaft that turns the winch drum, or, you can have a PTO that drives a hydraulic pump, then use the pump to turn a winch, leaving the stock power-steering setup alone. Talk to Bill at Great Basin Rovers if you want to pursue the idea. -L |
