buying just rear springs

moving the rear springs to the front

you get about 1 3/4" for 120 bucks

Really, very interesting. What are the downside to doing this???

I have almost brand new LR springs on my rig, about 2 months old, and that's a tempting idea. I know i should just buy all of them at once, but funds are tight, and this could work for a little while.

So, with a CB lift, and a little fender bending and a clip, I should be able to run 245's on a d1??

What type of springs would you need to use in the rear? Heavy duty, medium duty? Will this setup work well with an ARB and a winch and still sit level? I am in the same situation. I want a cheap l;ift but I don't want to go much higher than stock.

One thing to think about Zak is that since your rear stock springs are pretty new and not worn you are probably going to end up with a little more lift in the front then in the rear doing the CB lift. Most people that have done it this way are using their old worn out rear springs.

THanks for the input Eric. I'll most likely not do it. I'll save up for the springs. I can pretty much afford the springs, but I don't have the cash for the tires. Those those are expansive.

Zak,

Have you considered applying to the federal government for a research grant to study the impact of male addictions and testosterone levels as a socioeconomic impact on the economy?

just a thought..........

Related question -
If I put OME HD's all around on my 96', can I use the existing stock shocks or do I have to buy new OME ones?

Greg,

Good idea. Although you must be wiped out now, from using up all your cranial capacity on that thought!!! I guess you'll have to go home a take a nap now, let those few brain cells get a rest for a little while. Oh wait, you're a state worker, they get a rest all the time. LOL

Yeah, I wish I was a state worker. hell, I could probably retire by now if I was........ :)

On a more serious note, when you get my check today or tomorrow, you can use it towards your springs. :)

Sent it out yesterday. It's made of rubber and everything..........

Well, Zak, if I can get my hands on a D2 rack now, without paying out the ying/yang, and I can come up with a few back up lights, I may just be on my way to getting things done before MAR.

I will only have a few things left on my current upgrade list, including an engel and about 4 pelicans.

Hopefully, by MAR, I will have completed the following upgrades over the month of September:

RTE Sliders
265-75-16 Goodyear MTR's
Wedco Water and Gas cans with spouts
OME Steering Damper
J01 IPF lights on bumper
4 IPF 950's on rack (providing I find a rack)
Southdown front diff guard (like Frank Rafka's)
Southdown rear diff guard (backordered till 20th)
D2 roof rack (providing I find one)
rear & side work lights (visiting a friend tonight to check some out)

So, I've been a busy boy this month and more to do. I'll definately only be doing a one day trip on the 21st.

So, long story short, Blow ME Slider boy. :)

Anybody care to answer Todd and RJ's questions. I'm considering the CB lift my self and have a few concerns.

Just try it. Thats the best thing I can say. The worst you are out is 45minutes to swap in different fronts if you don't like the CB lift.

Odds are you will be as close to level as OME, with or without a bumper/winch

a real cb lift is by putting some 2 1/4" steelpipe under your spring seats and chop them the hight you want (2")and replace the bolts 8pcs. for 3.5" length
make two brackets to mount the front schocks on the 2 hole patern from the spring cup and your done a local shop made the parts for me for 50usd and it works fine under my disco
