I believe I need to change my rear brake pads. Every time I hit the brakes the squeal plus they are really old. Is this something a novice can do themselves? Also do you have any recommendations for after market pads one can pick up at local stores? Any brands better then others?

Thanks

Mike

Yes a novice can and should do the brakes on these trucks. I'm sure that there is a write-up in the tech section, otherwise, somebody will pipe up if you need help.

As for the parts, your best bet is somebody like Nathan at Discount Rovers... But, your local Advance Auto Parts (or pep boys) can get you pads maybe even cheaper.

One thing to keep in mind though, is if they have been making noise for awhile and are old, you may need new rotors. Check the thickness and make sure there are no gouges in the rotors. If you've had metal rubbing aginst metal, you will almost assuredly need new rotors.

I got my pads from Nathan. Rear pads are super easy. Takes longer to get the jack out and get the tire off than to replace the pads...seriously.
