Just hit 60k on my 2000 d2. Dealer wants over 900+ for the 60 k service. Pus additional charges for parts needed (ie. plug wires, belt etc,) WOW! Questions is: I like to try to do the sevice myself, any advice for steps or procedures?Where can I get a good deal on parts and where can a get a owners manual for a D2 2000? One other question; I have the SLS rear shock system. What kind of after market shocks can I use for replacement? Are they air shocks? I don't see them advertised in any of the aftermarket companies/mags. Can I use EMU's and new springs? Thanks in advance. I love this web site. |

Rick, Don't know about the DII, but you can find an in depth 60K service procedure for the D1 at http://www.d90.com/~daveg It's bound to be get you going on the right path anyway :-) I believe he also has a great section about putting installing oil plugs for the swivel pin housings on a DI. May be the same on DII, not sure but its worth checking out. --Mark |

Rick, your rear SLS springs can be replaced with coils if you like. I've yet to see aftermarket air-bags but I'm sure they are out there sold for RV's or another application. I think the OE supplier for Land Rover is Good Year but I could be wrong. RoverTym also makes very good SLS-spacers if what you're looking for is a lift. As for shocks you can go with OME in the rear but only with the spacers and I would also look into longer brake lines and ABS lines if you plan on running in extended mode with the SLS spacers. |
