I was working on my rear door (95 disco) and to get in there, I had to remove the stock amp. after I finished, and put everything back in, only my left speakers work. I took the amp out and checked the wiring and it seems everythings wired the same way as before, but now only two left speakers are working. This morning, only my left rear speaker was working and after a couple minutes, my front started to work again. Could I have damaged the amp? Any suggestions for an aftermarket or any wiring diagrams to put a new one in?? Please help, my stereo used to sound so good. |

The only thing I can see is a 6 wire harness connector wich clips to the amp. The connection seems good. |

did you do anything else? the amp in the rear door is for the Subwoofers only. the amp for the other speakers is in the RH kick panel. |

No, I didnt touch anything else. I think the rear door amp has something to do with all the speakers because when I unplugged it, all speakers went dead. |

on the 6-way plug, pin's 1, 2 & 3 go to the radio amplifier, pin 1 also connects to ground. pin 4 to the fuse box. pin 6 to ground. i had a problem that one of my 2 sub's weren't working. the connector clipped on , but wasn't making good contact. try wiggling/pushing on the wires with the radio on. |

The amp on my 95 Disco is under the passenger front seat and the sub amp(s) are on the back of each sub in the rear door. Besides double checking the connectors in the plug (per Danno) I'd make sure you didn't pinch a wire in the door panel or door somewhere. Shane |

Thanks for the help guys. Is there a way that I can wire that 6 wire harness up so that I can bypass that rear door amp? If I could do that, it would be a sure way of troubleshooting the amp. |

If I get time I'll try it on mine today. I'll get back to you on that. Shane 95 Disco www.c4caraudio.com |

I pulled my rear door subs out and unplugged the amp and everything else still works. So disconnecting the subs shouldn't effect the front/rear speakers. I think you have other issues. Now if any of the input wires leading into the sub amp were shorted/grounded, that may effect the amp for the other speakers because I believe they share the signal input. Shane |

Thanks for the info Shane, I guess I'm screwed because that wiring harness seems to be wrapped up pretty good and it goes directly out of the door to the body, wrapped up. I guess I'll start by looking back around the right tailight. |

If I get a chance today I'll take some voltage and ground resistance readings from the amp harness on mine so you can compare them to your's, maybe that would help isolate the problem. Shane |

Sounds like the short is close to the amp in the rear. When you unplug the amp, sounds like the signal inputs are shorting, killing the rest of your system. Check the connector and the wires at the point where they leave the rear door. there is most likely a short somewhere that comes/goes away when you move the wires. Hope the short hasn't blown the radio outputs. But it's a pretty good possibility. --Mark |

Guys thanks for the help. After removing the right jump seat and digging thru the wires, removing the rear door amp and looking for a short, then I looked under pass. seat for some kinda I dont know what, then I removed the front pass kick panel looking for whatever I can find. No solution. Then I decided to check my speakers. Front right speaker had a short. I taped it over and the music started. I had installed new Rockford speakers about 4 months ago, but I guess it decided to short out now. Thanks again for all the help. |
