Articulation depends on the springs and shocks that are being used and their lengths and flexiness. For a really stiff spring a cone would work better for articulation since it doesn't flex as much. A really flexy spring then it wouldn't make a difference since the spring would out flex the shock travel or drop down along the cone either way same thing. Strength, well I would say that using a retainer would be stronger simply due to it is another connecting point and the spring isn't just moving around in the perch. You would really have to get specific though as to shock length and spring type to really get a good understanding of why one would be better then the other. |
