I'm trying to disassemble the front hub on by '98 Disco to check the swivel pins. In back of the drive member are a locknut and nut which appear to be 52mm. the only 52mm socket I can fine has a 1" drive and costs $65. Is this nut really 52mm? If so, can someone recommend a cheaper place to buy this socket? |

If you live in a big city go to one of the cheap tool outlets(Tool King). The have the size you want. |

I used a large monkey wrench on my hub nuts. Hmmm...that just sounds funny!!! It wasn't very tight so it came off pretty easily. I am gonna buy a tool though. --Mark |

Ask Kyle, and he'll say you need a hammer and a chisel ;-)) I'd get that 52mm hub nut box spanner, makes easy work of a job you'll for sure do again later. Frode |

Thanks for all the help. I checked out AB's tool. It was listed as 2 1/16" which is 52.4mm (close enough for me). I called around and found a 2 1/16" socket locally for $30. This should work better than AB's tool because I will be able to use it on a torque wrench for reassembly. |

Well if you do the hub removal / replacement properly your required to torque the nut and back it off. to set the proper preload. Its hard to do that with a non calibrated hammer and chisel. |
