OK, I know I am going to get some serious shit for this but I'll post the question anyway. I recently bought some NATO steel wheels for my '99 D1 (set of 5 with lugs). They are supposed to arrive sometime via container this month from the UK. Now I know I should have done other things first (sliders, diff guards, lift, etc) but the price was right on this deal. Had I bought them at a later time (which I would have) I would have paid $150+ more for the wheels and had to pay shipping cross country on them (probably another $100+). That being said, now I'm trying to figure out what to do with them when they get in. I can't stand the aluminum wheels on my D1 but I can deal with them if need be. The way I see it my options are: #1 - Find some used tires to mount on the NATO wheels and use them now. The correct size/good tire I assume will be hard to come by. #2 - Stick the POS Michenlin tires on the NATO wheels and store the alloy wheels for the time being until I can afford the lift/tires. #3 Stick the NATO wheels in the corner of my garage until I can afford a lift and a larger tire size all at the same time (it will be quite a while). This options kills me. I hate buying something and then having them sit. Any input (other than I was a dumb ass to got his route). Let me also say I don't need a dedicated set of trail rims so I won't be swapping back and forth. Once the NATO wheels are on, they will stay on. By the way, I'll probably hold onto the alloy wheels and tires for the time being (not sure why yet). They have 80% tread and the spare has never touched the ground. I know I could do the CB lift but I'd prefer to wait for the OME. Thanks, Todd |

dear todd, after careful analysis of your current situation, i'd suggest you put the POS michelins on the nato wheels, then get lift, then new tires. this way, you at least get rid of the "annoying" alloy wheels. abby |

Zak, I'm in middle management and after I was told to layoff the two remaining people that I had working for me (which were good friends of mine) I was then told that I get the pleasure of doing the job that 5 of us were doing by myself. Needless to say I'm a pretty busy Data Switch Network Engineer at work. |

I hear you Eric. I was asked to out together a 10% and 20% layoff plan . I have an organization of about 70+ people so that's some serious headcount. Especially when we have been understaffed for the past few years. Todd I'd love management, if it weren't for the people... |
