Please help me with this. 01 disco 2. It give clicks when I turn the key. That's all. So, tried jump start it, it started. Check the battery, it is DRY! It is only 16 months old and the battery is dry. So put some water in the battery and hope it will charge. Ran it on highway for an hour and turn it off, it won't start again. It is bad battery right? Why will it dry up so fast? Thanks ---Charlie |

If it's not leaking electrolyte, you most likely have an alternator problem that is overcharging the battery and driving the electrolyte off. Jump the truck and take it to your local Batteries Plus, Autozone, Advance, or Pep Boys and have them put their nifty tester on it. You should know right quick if this is the problem. BTW-the battery is probably toast after being overcharged. The plates are unable to dissipate the heat generated by the overcharging, thus they warp and no longer function as designed. Paul |

I had the same thing happen today, 01 DII 18 months old. Here in Arizona batteries just don't last, I will be off to wherever tomorrow to get a new one. Are there any caveats about unhooking the battery? I remember something about radio codes getting reset. Is the battery covered under warranty??? I wonder if I should wait til monday and call the dealership. Thanks Jim Groom |
