Does anyone know why the central door locking system would stop working all of a sudden? I have a 96 Disco. The system is making no noise and will not even lock using the key. I have checked the fuse and is good. I have taken the driver door panel off but I can't tell if the actuator is bad. Can anyone help please? Does anyone have a wiring diagram so I can trouble shoot this thing? Thanks for any help. |

Yes. The doors lock manually by pushing the button down or using the key. There is just nothing happening with the actuators. It's like the system is turned off. |

Jeff, if you look at the wiring diagram, the drivers actuator powers up the remaining 4 actuaters (they are in parallel). You probably have a bad drivers door actuater. By the way, all the actuators are the same except for the drivers. I believe theygo for about $110 (mail order). |

Thanks Bill for the info. I am looking for the wiring diagram. Would you happen to have it and foward it to me? Is there a way to test the actuator? I have a sneaking suspision that there is no power to the system but the fuse is good. Anyplace else I might look? |

Jeff, I have the wiring diagram on a chilton manual but no way of scanning it. You might be correct to assume that your drivers actuater is not getting power. But you might want to start by checking it out. Try removing the actuater and giving it a 12 volt jump to see if it responds. If it does, then the actuater is fine and there is a problem with the wiring or your alarm's computer. |

Well i fixed most of the problem. It was the fuse for the alarm system not the central locking system. Now everything works but the right front passenger door. I guess I will have to take that door apart to see whats up. Can the system get out of sync and if so how do you get it back in sync? |

Jeff, maybe when you opened the door panel, you loosened something. Also to note, these actuators arent the best quality. I once boke one by simply removing it. Sometimes the 2 halves split apart easily over time. What i did to fix it was to put some heavy duty tie wraps around it and hold the 2 halves together. By the way, where was the alarm fuse? Under the steering wheel? |

Just a thought ... does the battery in the handset need replacing? |
