What kind of tires would y'all recommend for a Disco I for street and occational off-road use? They'd get pretty thrashed while off-roading BTW. Also, anyone have any impressions on the Mickey Thompson Baja Claws?

I have had the BFG MTs and like them.

I run BFG ATs on road and Trxus M/Ts off road (and to get off road).

So far I think that I like the Trxus M/Ts off road a bit better than the BFG MTs, but have not tried in thick mud yet. I also think that the Trxus are better ON ROAD that the BFG MTs on road, especially in rain. The Trxus have minimal siping which might imply that they are not as good as the MTs in mud.

for the price, the Trxus MT's are pretty good. they do run small though. better in mud compared to the Grabber MT's that they replaced and are quieter too.

Goodyear MT/r looks like a good choice for an all terrain tire. The trxus MT is also a good all rounder.

Hmmm...I was told that the Trxus run bigger than the BFGs, but ran two different sizes, so cannot say anything from experience.

The TrXus being siped shouldn't hurt it's mud performance, just help it's on road manners in the wet/snow.

Anyone know what how many miles one can expect out of the Trxus when using them about 70% onroad and 30% off.

Anyone know where i can get the Trxus' in So. Cal? I went to their website and couldn't find a dealer list, and I don't think my bosses would be too thrilled if I called LA from CA...

What size would work best on a DI with a 2" OME lift? I would like to go a little taller than stock, but no wider.
Thanks

Trevor, I'm really not sure how many miles to expect from the Trxus. After several months of use, mine look like they are wearing even and could go a few years. When I bought the tires I figured after about 2yrs of use, I would be looking for a slightly larger and maybe different tire.

I've got 265 70 16 Bridgestone Dueller A/Ts on my 96 D1 - Koni shocks & King HD springs (2" lift)- get rubbing on steering link on full lock I could fix by adjusting but so far no bodywork rubbing - good tyres

Jeff,

How do you like your Dueler AT's? How are they in snow? Trying to decide between BFG AT's and the Dueler AT's.

Used to run BFG MT's on two trucks that saw a lot of time off road. Highly recommended. However, I siped the center tread blocks (after about 15-20,000 miles -- just couldn't do it with new tires). Great improvement on ice and rainy streets. Never noticed chunking from running in the rocks either.

Before the MT's I had BFG AT's. My opinion is that you should just go for it and get MT's. Sure there's a little rumble on the highway, but it's not as annoying as hearing all the little gravel sized rocks stuck in the AT treads click when you drive. Much better snow/mud traction with the MT's and relatively little trade off in on road manners.

I should also add that I got 30-40,000 miles out of the BFG MT's.
