Compared size of these tires in 255/85 : thornbird 32.7x10.5 trxus 32.7x10.1 which one would be better off road? both of these tires are good on road trxus - tight siping etc thornbird - the lugs don't touch so its like riding on an all terrain tire but off road which one would perform better in conditions rocks , mud, sand, i need a tire that is awesome off road but won't wear out as fast as my swamper tsl/sx's did and these hit a good price range trxus 118 thornbird 135 Thornbird vs Trxus

I wouldn't buy Thornbirds with free money. Most people I've spoken to who have the Trxus like them. I've never owned either as neither suits my current needs. Good luck. -P |

sup perrone i was thinking on getting the 34x10.50 LTB's like you have but i need something to last more than 20k ya know do you have a range rover or a disco what is your fender to center cap measurement? what lifts are on your truck that allowed you to fit those tires |

Blake, Have the Truxus M/T 235/85-16 on my RR. Clean well in mud and due to their weight actually smoothed out my hd springs when unloaded. Do very well in the rain with the siping which really is a plus for a mud tire unless you can get siping done in your area. Also did well on the rocks in CO.. Planning to have them re-mounted with some Equal as they currently ride really well. Jaime |

I LOVE my tires. I have a RR. I have about a 3" llift all done with springs. The tires measure almost exactly 33.5x10" with about 1800 miles on them. They are wearing quite well. I am doing about 400 miles a week on them and they are holding up nicely. They may give me more than my estimated 20k, but we'll see. I do NOT recommend these tires for people who are looking for the ride of a radial. I bought them knowing that my average commute was abou 9 miles each way. But the week before I got the tires I got hired for an out of town job thats 33 miles away. These tires have all the quirks of bias plys including flat spots after sitting, and following ruts like crazy. But with my windows up, I don't find them that loud at all. Good luck in your search. -P |

I say try the trxus out. I have been impressed with my 235/85s. I suspect with a small lift you will have rubbing issues with the wider thornbirds. |

i don't know but i think fitting them will be no problem i have 32x11.50's now and they look small , they are worn though, OME HD and Rovertym 2" Body lift i think will fit the 255/85 in the dunlop mud rover the 255/85's are 33.6x10.8 the same height as perrone's 34x10.50 LTB's but .1" wider so i don't know about those as an option for their size i have 22" front 23" back (fender to center cap) so i dunno |

Do not even go close to the Thornbirds, they are a very bad design, and their build is very week. May I suggest the SSRs, I mean, these have the best of both worlds. I have seen them in action on the road, snow, and some serious offroad, and they seem to cope well with all the above. I personnally do not like them, since they are rdials, and are not too agressive. They cost a shit load though |
