My 98 D1 comes with 235/70/R16 tires. What is the largest size tire (using same rims) that I can put on it without modifications of any sort that won't result in tire rubbing? Thanks, Al |

You can go to 245x75R16 and the original springs with a small amount of modification (your wife won't see it...) to the rear fender by the back door. 10 min. or less with a dremel on both sides and you're done. If it's a leased vehicle, no one else will know it, either.... Cheers |

Strange, I run 245/75 16 BFG AT and rubbed the rear quarter panel under even moderate compression with OME HDs. |

I rubbed pretty good with the 245/75/R16s too. I have the steel wheels though. I think that you can go with 245/70/R16 or with 235/75/R16 tires without trimming. However, those sizes may be a bit difficult to locate. What's wrong with the stock size? Thanks, Mike B. |

Mike, Nothing wrong with the stock size. Just thought about going up in size slightly but wanted to get some feedback from those of you who have done it. LR wasn't real keen on me doing it. I haven't had any problems with these tires off-roading so probably won't. Hey, those of you who have BFG AT, how do you like them? Thinking of getting a set of those. Thanks for your feedback. Well, with the excepion of the stock Michelin XPC tires, most (if not all) 235/70 tires have a really weak load rating. But you can definetely fit 245/70 BFG AT's which are stronger than the stock tires. Also, they are a little larger than the 235/70. If you have the intention to lift the car in the future, go with 245/75's. |

Wasn't really planning on putting a lift kit into it...yet, so for the time being I'll be running it as is. Sounds like 245/70's are the size I can go with. Thanks for everyone's input and help. Al |

what's the difference between the stock 235/70 and the 245/70 exactly? is it wider or taller? i just hope i don't have to do any mods with it if i get the 245's cause the 235s look a little small for the disco to me |

245/70s are 10 mm wider and a tiny bit taller (70% the height). Al |
