With all the talk about the Magnecor sparkplug wires lately, I decided to get a set and change my sparkplugs at the same time. I started working on it this morning and soon realized that changing the wires is not an easy task! How do you reach the other end of the wire (opposite end to the sparkplug) to unplug the wires? They are so far back that I cannot get my hands in there? Is there a trick to this? THanks in advance, Will |

Will, More than a year ago, Magnecor offered me wires at no charge to test with the Disco II. I was really excited until I saw how difficult it would be to remove the factory set without breaking something. Seems that there is no trick just very difficult to do. |

Ok, so how do you do it? Simply by feel, and with small hands?! There's no way I can get my hands in there, and I don't think someone smaller than me could really reach it! |

I used a trained monkey. Although PETA has started a campaign against it. Seriously, I was able to do it but it was a real pain in the ass. I just did one wire at a time for the most part. On a few instances, I had to remove a wire at the top of the ignition coil, install the one below it and then install the top one. Anyway, here is is what the ignition coils look like if you were inside the truck looking "through" the dash. It helped me visualize what had to be moved out of the way and what "port" on the ignition coil I was aiming for.
I went slow, cursed a lot and tore up my hands but it is possible. One of the things that helped was unlatching all of the wiring conduit that is routed above the ignition coils and pushing it out of the way temporarily, it gave me more wiggle room. I also put in high quality leads so that I don't have to do this again soon. Hope some of this helps. Rick |

Thanks Rick. That picture will help a lot when I get the guts up to try again. Guess this is the BLOOD part as in "I put my blood sweat and tears into that truck." |
