I've a 97 Disco with leaking power steering fluid at both ends of the hose that connects the tank with the pump. It could be just the clamps but I was also going to replace the hose. The dealer wants $58 for a new one. Is this a special hose or can I go to the parts store and find some? |

Try putting on new clamps first. Should only cost about $3. It worked for me. IT is worth a try. Good Luck |

Kevin: There was quite a lengthy discussion on this very topic not very long ago. When replacing this hose, you will want to avoid the temptation to use cheap heater hose as it will be negatively affected by the chemicals in the ATF used in your power steering system. IF you wish to source this hose locally, you might try looking for an industrial hydraulic shop. I use a Gates product, LOLA+, it has a Nitrile core that resists just about anything you will encounter on your truck and it shouldn't cost you very much at all. You'll need about one foot of the 5/8" size and two standard torque worm-gear clamps. Try to get the all-stainless clamps if you can. Also, it is much easier to access the fitting at the pump if you remove the fan/viscous clutch assembly. The dealer cost is one of the reasons some folks refer to them as stealerships. Paul |
