Has anyone seen burnt pad/carpet behind center console of D1 before? Slightly to the drivers side and appeared to be directly above the first muffler. Is this due to the location of the muffler or some problem. |

Does your muffler have its heat shield in place? |

Hmmm, if there is supposed to be a shield there and it is where I described it certainly is not.
I would assume that that the last people to work on the vehicle left it off or that it fell off?
Is it possible that it fell off? |

The original fiber/tin foil shields definitely had a problem with breaking and falling off their mounting bolts, but are positioned so as to be hard to fall off. The new rigid composite shields seem to be much better. I got mine from Rover Connection. |
