Hey guys, I need a little insight. Very soon I'll be selling my Toyota Landcruiser FJ60 and have found a 1996 D1 that interests me. Although I've done a lot of Blue Book pricing, I'd like to get your opinions on the purchase. Coming from a Landcruiser background, I'm a very competent shadetree mechanic. The details on the Disco are:

1996 SD, 127,000 miles
Rebuilt Automatic Transmission in April 2002.
Stock 4.0 V8, runs like a top.
Check engine light on (I haven't run codes)
ABS light on. (Most likely sensors)
Recent Water Pump
Intermittant wipers not functioning
Keyless entry will unlock doors but not lock, the key works fine.
Leather Seats, no sunroof
Right front speakers not functioning.
Needs Rear Side window seals and rear door window seal
Dash Peeling.
Stock OEM brushguard, Custom rear bumper (Steel, but not $G or like quality.
Tow Package
Otherwise, one owner (who I have known for 4 years), all maintenance records.

The rig is in Arizona. Kelly Blue Book, private party is $7950.00. What do ya'll think?

FWIW, I paid less than $7k for a 96 D1 with 90K miles and it is spotless.

Good luck.

Not a bad price, but you seem to have found one with all those well known L.R. problems that are just more annoying than anything! Keep looking, but I would say you are in a good price range.

I got my '94 with leather (glad I got leather), but no sun roofs or 7 seven seats, with 86k on it for $10k. I have two very minor problems - rear door lock and a wind screen leak. I have spent $418 on repairs and maintenence - including $300 alone for the transmission filter change. (One of the rare maintenece issues on a Land Rover that is more difficult to perform than it should be.)
