I've been looking for an extended warranty. I'm looking for an exclusion type warranty (covers everything but the items on a list). I've replaced a bunch of seals so far, and I want to make sure that those kind of things are covered. I want either a 5 year or 6 year 100,000 mile policy. I've been to a bunch of sites on the net and searched the Discoweb archives. So far, either they don't cover Land Rovers, or they don't issue policies in Florida. Here is what I have so far: Viking - No policies in Florida Warranty Gold - only up to 60K miles. Expensive Warranty Direct - Do not cover Land Rovers Warranty Wizard - Do not cover Land Rovers InterContinental - Do not cover Land Rovers WarrantyByNet - Do not cover Land Rovers Land Rover Coverage - only up to 36K miles and 3 years. Hal Moses offers a policy through Warrantech called Peak 2000 - 100,000 miles, 6 years, Exclusion Policy, $0, $50, $100, and $200 deductable available. Does anybody know of any other places to check? Thanks, Mike B. |

This company is listed on the RangeRovers.net site. You might see if they offer something for Discos. http://www.rangerovers.net/rrwarranties.htm#autoadvantage Jaime |

Thanks for the Info. I filled out a request from RangeRovers.net for a quote, but I've not heard back yet. I'll try to find AutoAdvantage on the Internet later on tonight. I also found Consumer's Choice out of Chicago (www.ccwarranty.com). They offer the same warranty (Peak 2000 plan from Warrantech) as Hal Moses (Auto Advantage) for a few dollars more. It is supposedly the best and most comprehensive policy available. They pay by corporate credit card (no out of pocket money) and have 76 adjusters (so claims are processed quickly). If you are not in Florida, they are offering a $250.00 'discount'. I talked to a guy named Pat at 800-616-5555. Here are the rates that he gave me. 5 Years - 100K miles - $50 deductable - $2994 5 Years - 100K miles - $200 deductable - $2439 6 Years - 100K miles - $50 deductable - $3474 6 Years - 100K miles - $200 deductable - $2771 Thanks, Mike Bauer |

Good suggestion on Geico, but according to the rep, you have to get an extended warranty within the first 11 months or 11K miles. Thanks, Mike B. |

I found the AutoAdvantage plan on the Internet. From what I was able to read, it's an inclusionary type plan. Gaskets and seals are not covered. It seems to only cover the major engine components; although the exhaust manifolds (a concern of mine) are covered. Keep the suggestions coming and I'll keep tracking them down! Thanks, Mike B. |

I got the Consumer Choice warranty for my wife's 2001 Ford Windstar. They had some deal running where if I paid the full amt up front, I got zero deductible and $100 off (or something like that.) It's already paid for itself more than 2x over due to a failed a/c. Working with them was great. We took the van to the local ford dealer... they called the CC Warranty folks who authorized the chargers and paid the entire bill. I couldn't have been happier. This went too smooth. When my Disco warranty runs out, I'll be checking out the CC folks. -Tommy |

Project Complete! Thanks everyone for their help. I ended up going with Hal Moses at Auto Advantage. I purchased Warrantech's Peak 2000 plan for 6 years, 100K miles, and $0.00 deductable for $3491. It sounds expensive, but the way I look a it is that I just fixed my repair costs at under $600 per year for the next 6 years. Thanks, Mike B. |
