I remember having seen a thread where someone said they bought a timing chain from Summit. Obviously, Summit doesn't list a cam gear setup for the Rover in the catalogs...

Anybody got some numbers for me? Is it the same as for a SBC? That would be making it almost too easy!

My truck is still making that annoying noise and I am considering an oil pump replacement and while I'm at it, I might as well replace the cam drive. Won't be much longer and I'll not only have a new engine, but new ancillaries too!

Thanks,
Paul

Paul i tried to find that out a month ago i was going to upgrade the timing and cam in my 4.0. I even asked Chris Crane at RPI if Cloyes made one for the 4.0. No luck with it. The serp belt timing cover i belive, wont fit the wider double roller types

Not to long ago I replaced the Gears and Chain on my 3.9 with the Cloyes set-up. Are you sure there was a change in that area of the engine when it went from the 3.9 - 4.0?

I got it from a local parts shop for $95. Summit would probably have the same chain though.

This might be one of those times I need to be more specific, my truck is a '95, 3.9, serpentine, with distributor.

Mike: Got the mfgr and part number by chance?

Pardon my ignorance here, but is there another # for an older 3.9 timing gear set from Summit? Mine needs replacing asap! I thought the Summit set covered all engines.

Thanks.
