Lift the rear of the truck and have one person hold one wheel while you turn the other backwards. It should unlock with a small amount of force and you will hear it ratchet. Then do the same while you hold the wheel on your side.

If it unlocks and ratchets, all is normally well.

OK tested out the locker it will ratchet on the drivers side after a decent amount of initial force and the passenger side just will not ratchet at all. Is it me or should I call back the guy that I bought the diff from. From the previous post it should not act like this. If it is broken how hard to correct a potential problem thanks for any info. Daniel

Dan,

Did the other person merely hold the wheel in place or did he apply pressure and try to turn his way the opposite way you were turning your wheel?

he held it in place without turning. Could this load have kept the unit locked up.

Yep , the other person needs to turn the wheel until it stops in that direction. This unlocks the other wheel..
