i have spent the last 30 minutes with my hand shoved in places i am sure rover did not like, looking to see if my july 2001 build date disco II has the cdl shaft. i have looked at pictures, gone to the truck, looked at pictures, gone to the truck, ad nausium. on my back, drivers side i see the output shaft with the drum shaped dampener. to the outboard side i see a round plate with 6 bolts on it. i have been looking around there. am i on the right track? should i grab a small mirror to look above or since i cannot find it easily is that a good indicator that i am pooched as far as a cdl goes? without a cdl would be next best thing be to add lockers to the diffs? thanks oh guru ones... mike |

There are others more qualified to answer your question about identifying a CDL bolt. However, lockers work extremely well in tandem with a CDL. So I would say that it would be best to spend your money locating a t-case with CDL, and then add lockers in the future if necessary. Just my thoughts... |

"on my back, drivers side i see the output shaft with the drum shaped dampener" It is located on the passenger side on top of the transfer case in the front, just above where the front drive shaft goes into the transfer case. Hope that helps, |

well i think i am screwed. all i can easily find is a wiring bundle and a black plate with several connectors attached. does anyone know (and would be willing to tell me) if the cdl nut should be visible from the ground, is it a grope and feel situation, or if you see this wiring and plate then you should be seeing red as you do not have a cdl? |

You can not see it from under the rig. As mentioned, it is on the top of the front of the T-case directly above and behind the front prop shaft and it points straight up.

yeah...i have been feeling around, but having no joy. part of me is in denial that there may be no cdl on this one...i think tomorow i will get a mirror out and see what i can see. i have looked at the diagram at expedition exchange, so i have a general idea of its location. it just does not feel like the diagram up there. the first part of cdl healing is to admit you have a problem. i am just not there yet. thanks for your imput, curtis. mike |

I saw a post for a '00 T-case with the stub on ebay for $449. There are solutions. Good Luck, Curtis |

damn...nice price. i looked at some online yards and they were going for $750 to $1100... thanks for the heads up. i hate to turn my back on a perfectly good t-case, but anyway, it seems that you can never have too many spare rover parts. mike |
