I have 34K on my DII and some of the belts are looking a little worn - cracked. The main belt that is attached to the alternator. No idea of the official name. How do I replace this? - I have never used a tensioner so call me clueless - that's why I am here. I can do the oil and brakes so I am not totally helpless. Any advice? How easy is this job? Thanks in advance. |

easy. again i don't have the damn diagram. leslie? blue....your pics? but you need to get a hold of a new belt. loosen the tensioner and slip the old belt off. getting it back on the same way is VERY important. pay attention to where it goes and which side of the belt is facing what. put new belt on and tighten tensioner back up. there are some other variations of this, but this is one way. |

For the DII, the RAVE CD says you have to remove the damn fan to replace the belt and removing the fan supposedly requires some of the custom LR-xxx tools. Is this true? I was going to replace my belt but removing the fan looks like a pain in the butt. Here's the diagram for a V8.
