Just want to check CDL on my 2001. I can fit a deep 1/2" socket on the nut by contorting my arm/wrist. Which way to turn (from top, clockwise or ccw?) How much to turn? Thanks for your help. -jsf |

If looking down from inside the cab, turn clockwise to engage, counter-clockwise to disengage. Only takes about a quarter turn. You'll feel a soft "click" when it engages. The dash light may not come on immediately. It will once the gears mesh. Same for disengaging. May take a few feet for the light to go off. |

Thanks, Greg It works. Now I can go ahead with the install of the AMV CDL actuator. Just wanted to make sure the nut wasn't stuck or something, and it was nice to see the dash CDL indicator come on and go off. Thanks, John F |

I was told by the land rover guys in Albuquerque that engaging the CDL in my Disco II (1999) could damage the TC or the ABS system! is this true? according to what they say, TC is there to have better control than having the CDL, and that is way is not installed in new Discos! I am a bit confused and afraid to damage the systems, but at the same time I would like try the CDL capabilities! any thoughts? Jorge |

Jorge, they are saying that because LR has told them that. No, it won't harm your systems. They only sense wheel speed. If you engage your CDL, you have just releived your systems from having to worry about doing a cross-axle check, because at least one each of the front and rear wheels will be spinning at the same rate. Now, the system will only have to compare front to front, and rear to rear. It's truely amazing at how much difference it will make. Your TC light will come on about 75% less than it used to off-road. Get under there with a 10mm wrench and try it yourself. Hell, the techs at my dealer have sent other customers to me to find out how to make the linkage to activate it! |

With that being said, I have heard (heard remember, don't know for a fact) that you can run up to about 60mph. But in all honesty, I don't see why there would be a speed limitation if you're on the proper surface. Just my observation. |
