97 DISCO; It seems that at rpm >3000, usually going up hills or under strain the engine seems to downshift.
Any ideas; plugs/wires
Thanks

If the engine is downshifting, what is the transmission doing? Rephrase your question and someone might be able to help you, ok? JMcD

Lets try again;
the rpm's go up above 3000, but the engine speed doesn't increase and neither does the tranny

Ok, wait a sec, are you saying the Tachometer jumps above 3000 but the engine doesn't seem to be increasing it revs? JMcD

you have big tires? it will cause it to shift at a funny time.

you are feeling the lack of power.

Yes, and I have the standard tires, it also seems that the engine slows down until I let off on the pedal.

Anon, I would love to help you but I cant for the life of me follow what you are saying..

The rpm is the engine speed, displayed on the tachometer

The truck speed is how fast you are going, displayed on the speedometer ie: 45 mph

Are you saying that the engine rpms increase but the truck doesn't go any faster?

or are you saying the rpm's stay the same but the tachometer rises?

or are you saying the transmission doesn't shift as it usually does?

pick which seeems closest to your problem, ok? JMcD

i am not a LR expert but check and see if there are any vacum hoses that mey be connected to the operation of the tranny.
